Loved your email and hearing of your recent experiences. Do you mind if I forward your email to my parents? They would love to hear about your mission. Let me know.
Erin, we're happy to have your parents in on our blog. I wrote a long comment day before yesterday, previewed it and then lost it. Did it go through? It was about our three visits in extreme poverty situations.
We are actively engaged in the work, long days, some gut-wrenching experiences with women in extreme poverty situations-- the worst we've ever been exposed to. Our mission president is great, giving us the go ahead with lots of discretion to do whatever is needed to help solve some of their basic needs.
The people in this area are fantastic. We love it here. The people are so warm and friendly. Wherever we go people are helpful and kind, also interested in what we are doing and why we are here in the area. It is truly amazing the reception we get.
We discovered a WONDERFUL "fresh market" an upscale place in Tallahasse with the most wonderful fresh veggies, fruits, deli, bakery, etc. Never been in such a place before. Also found a nice restaurant where we shared a prime rib dinner. The same day (P Day) we drove way out in the boonies to an old country store famous for its sausage since 1919. Wednesday night we had the Johnson's, the managers of the marina/campground, over for a true southern dinner. I baked an angel food cake in the propane oven in my newly purchased cake pan. We kept smelling burning angel food, but the top looked fine. Thought maybe some spilled in the oven. Not! The bottom of the cake was burned black, and I mean black for about a fourth of the cake. It took both of us to get it out of the pan! Bill hid the pan somewhere for cleaning later. I think the pan truly is toast.
There are a lot of folks here fishing a bass tournament.
Yesterday we attended zone conference in Tallahasse which was great. What a constant spiritual feast! President Summerhays is very gifted at this work, amazingly powerful.
I am teaching Relief Society tomorrow and the two of us are teaching the Gospel Essentials class. Two of the women we visited and worked with this week said they are coming to church.
We miss all of you. We are so blessed by your love and support. We love our picture of you all and show you off every chance we get.
Been experiencing some computer problems this past week. Hopefully things are back to normal.
Bill, I did not see your blog about 3 visits in poverty situations. Would love to hear about it. Could I also get Kevin and Holly's address and phone number? Kim and I need to start thinking about Gloria's baby shower. It will be in October. Holly said she would like to help.
Didn't know if you knew, but I started a job at Orem Elementary School. I'm the head cook. Just trying it out this school year. It's alot of work, but my co-workers are fun.
Also, my parents need to be invited to join your blog. I went ahead and forwarded your last email to them. I can't remember their email so I'll have to get it for you.
Hope all is well. We are all doing great here. Jody's email is jlz785@gmail.com. She would like to be invited to blog with us.
Hey g'ma, it's Nat. How are you doing? natangel37@yahoo.com I'm going to miss you even more this summer when instead of escaping up to Utah like I normally do, I'll have to stay down here in the desert heat. Lotsa love, Natalie
